Research Project Focused on A Different Second Sunday Morning Worship at St Andrew’s Church, Earls Colne
Message from Helen Sherfield, Trainee Lay Minister
This message is mostly for worshippers at St Andrew’s Church, Earls Colne. We welcome your feedback even if you attend occasionally or if you attend Colne Engaine or White Colne as a general rule but occasionally drop into Earls Colne.
As most of you know, I am training to become a Licensed Lay Minister. As part of my final assignment with St Mellitus College, I am carrying out a research project focusing on developing mission and ministry in context and I would like to invite worshippers at Earls Colne to be part of this study. Please read the details below about the research I am carrying out and, if you would like further information, please contact me on colnechurches@gmail.com
The data collected will be anonymous and will be used for my assignment and by the Ministry and Leadership Team and Earls Colne PCC for the enhancement of our services, focussing particularly on second Sunday morning worship. Surveys submitted from this web form will not display your email address.
Our second Sunday 10am worship was always intended to be less formal and presented in a different style, but it consistently returns to the traditional format of Service of the Word. The intention for this service was to provide an alternative style of worship for our congregation and something less formal but welcoming for newcomers who may be unfamiliar with church – an invitational service.
My research project aims to look at potential benefits on everyday discipleship if second Sunday worship was less formal and more contemporary than our other traditional services, for instance, how the different ways of worship could enhance our daily lives as disciples. This research is an opportunity for you to contribute to our understanding of the impact that Sunday morning worship has on everyday discipleship and lives. This will help us in thinking about what we might be able to offer to enhance people’s journeys as we walk alongside them.
Paper-based copies of this survey are available at the back of St Andrew’s, Earls Colne church. If would you prefer to use a paper-based form, please place your completed form in the red box in the church (by the toilet).
Please complete the survey, via the web based form or using the paper-based form, by end of April 2025.
Thank you very much.
Helen.
